RUTLAND, Vt. — A pest control technician is facing a $275,000 fine and the termination of his license. Authorities say he used a banned pesticide in treating a Vermont couple’s home for bed bugs.
Neil and Patricia Whitney of Rutland recently reached a $450,000 settlement with the state agency that hired the exterminator, Cary Buck, who runs AAA Accredited Pest Control Corp. The couple said their home was made uninhabitable after it was sprayed with the federally banned pesticide, chlorphyrifos in 2012. -wcvb.com
He had sprayed over 437 homes within the the last 5 years. 45 in which was sprayed with this chemical.
Buck’s attorney, Ritchie Berger, said he could not comment.
We couldn’t live bug-less in our homes without pest control companies. They fight a lot of diseases in which bugs bring.
But remember, you get what you pay for.
Always make sure that your home is served by pest control companies that have a good reputation with chemicals that are safe to both you and your pets.
